Jazz Cat

She's a jazz cat
Silky delight
Taking over everyone
Singing smoky nights
She's a jazz cat
A classy act
Her moves sleek
Sequins flicker
Lights, and cameras please
Smooth bass notes
Dancing chords
And jazz cat explores
She's open to the music
She's hearing their heart's beat
The jazz cat awaken
My singing voice and me

This one I came up with whilst studying art at RMIT in the evenings. I would work full-time and study full-time, so my nights home on the train and walking in the dark were full of poetry. The poems kept me awake and I think they really were creative in a very bubbly fashion at this time. That is, I didn't write about my life. I wrote about lives that could exist in others and lives that have existed in the past. Poem written Jul/ Aug 2000.
